CA Referring to your letter of the 15th instant No.4262/1908, I have the honour to report for the informa-
tion of the Secretary of State that on the 20th instant
a bill of exchange at 3 days sight for £60,000 drawn on
us by the Colonial Treasurer of Hong Kong was presented
for acceptance.
2.
We had received no advice of the bill either by
telegraph or in writing and we therefore telegraphed as
follows to the Colonial Government on the 21st instant ;-
"Is draft of £60,000 in favour of Hong Kong and
"Shanghai Bank in order. We have not received advice*
and on the 22nd instant we received the following reply
*£30,000 in order"
3. I enclose a copy of a letter which we have
addressed to the Colonial Government on the subject.
